Santa Monica firefighter relief fund
The Santa Monica Firefighters Relief Fund (SMFRF) meant the world to Dom because of their mission.
The fund was established to aid families of firefighters who bravely served their community. It serves those who became seriously injured, suffered catastrophic illness, or were killed in the line of duty.
This non-profit organization assists families with related costs such as medical procedures, equipment, and funeral expenses. The funds are also appropriated to support local schools, youth groups, and civic organizations in the Santa Monica community.
Glioblastoma (also known as Glioblastoma multiforme or GBM) is the most aggressive type of tumor in the brain. It is one of the most lethal forms of brain cancer. The current standard of care (consisting of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy) is ineffective, and the median survival of a person diagnosed with glioblastoma is about 15 months; without treatment, it is a paltry 3-6 months. Although radiation and chemotherapy prolong life, they significantly reduce the quality of life—so much so that some patients opt out of treatment.
